This piece had no plans.
I determined the size of the spheres at the lathe and the composition as I went. I had a vision for the finish and no clue how it would turn out.
I’m trying to approach my work with the craftsmanship of a fine woodworker and the freedom of a painter. It’s been a pretty liberating experience.
I encourage you to take note of the rules you follow, and drop the ones that don’t push you forward.
