Set on the quest to design a chair that fits into one of the most iconic American furniture brands is no easy task. Emeco has a broad range of chair designs, take for example the Navy Chair and the Parrish Chair. Both unique designs yet very much Emeco. Most of their product line is like this; individual yet very much built upon the brand’s DNA.
How does a chair fit into Emeco’s product line without mimicking another?
Searching for shared characteristics, I noted how every chair was simple, striking, and iconic within the silhouette alone. All while holding a stance I would call brute and elegant. An Emeco Chair effortlessly stands its ground. This study led me to design a chair that aims to uphold these familial traits, in a new light.

One Move Tables
2021Hardwood, Veneer, Glass, Steel
Designed for Blu Dot, these tables aim to reinvent the way we store and display our favorite coffee table books and novels. The front and back of the coffee table provide an area to hold your entire collection of books while displaying it like a typical book case. The sides of the table act as a display shelf, showing off your most rare books without taking up real estate up top.
The side table provides additional storage for anything from sculptures to more books.

An accent chair designed for "pass-through areas"; entrances, hallways, landings, etc. - Jo provides a moment of breath within the home. The chair holds a welcoming presence and only has lines that direct the eye upward, intending to uplift the spirit of the viewer and connect them into their space.

This object is designed as a companion piece for the “Space Between All Things” collection. It is up to the user whether it be used as a small side table or a stool. A strong presence is maintained in this small piece due to its robust composition and strong stance.

Understanding that an individual can only connect to their surroundings to the extent in which they can connect to themselves, the Hiku Lounge Chair is a piece of furniture that aims to provide a space for one to embrace the silence around them and find a moment to reflect. An experience such as this will ultimately allow for a more meaningful relationship with the interior space.
